Python

Python is a computer programming language. A programming language is the language used to give instructions to a computer so that a computer can understand what a human is trying to communicate.. All of the games and browsers you use have been made with a programming language. Python has a very user-friendly system and the exact same capabilities as any other programming language while still being much easier to learn.

Fun fact about Python! The designer of Python, Guido Van Rossum, wanted a short and unique name for the language. He was a fan of Monty Python's Flying Circus, a TV show, so he adopted it as the new name for his programming language.

GLIST has developed a one-year Python curriculum for first-time coders.
The curriculum covers the following skills:
  • Print statements
  • Variables
  • Operations
  • Strings
  • Lists, Maps, & Tuples
  • The built-in graphics module, Turtle
  • If statements
  • For & While loops
  • Functions

Raspberry Pi

Raspberry pi is the future of computers. It is a credit-card sized computer that functions just like a normal computer! You can install and use computer programming languages and even browse the internet. What's more, raspberry pi is an ideal option because of its low cost. It is relatively inexpensive to buy and hook up a raspberry pi to a monitor and keyboard.
